Benefit:
- Rapid Pest Stoppage: Pests stop feeding within hours, minimizing crop damage (especially important for "dead heart" or "white ear" in paddy).
- Higher Yield & Quality: Protects rice panicles and leaves → healthier crop, better grain filling, and increased yield.
- Resistance Management: Different mode of action from older insecticides (e.g., organophosphates); useful in rotation to delay pest resistance.
- Crop Safety: Low phytotoxicity; safe for paddy when applied correctly.
- Convenience: Works in different weather; reduces need for frequent sprays.
- Environmentally Friendlier Profile: Lower impact on non-target organisms compared to broad-spectrum older chemicals.
- Economic Benefit: Effective at lower doses → cost-effective control with better returns.
Features:
- Active Ingredient: Indoxacarb 14.5% SC (oxadiazine class).
- Mode of Action: Sodium channel blocker (disrupts nerve impulses in insects → paralysis and death). It has both contact and stomach action, with strong anti-feedant (stops pests from eating) effects.
- Fast Knockdown: Quick paralysis prevents further feeding damage almost immediately.
- Residual Control: Provides long-lasting protection.
- Selective / IPM Compatible: Relatively safer for beneficial insects (predators like ladybugs, frogs, birds, and pollinators) when used as directed; supports Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Broad Spectrum: Highly effective against larvae/caterpillars of lepidopteran pests.
- Formulation Advantage: Easy-to-mix SC formulation; non-systemic but has translaminar movement.
Usage:
Recommended Dosage (for Paddy):
- 160–200 ml per acre (or approximately 400–500 ml per hectare).
- Mix in 200 litres of water per acre for foliar spray.
- Use high-volume sprayers (knapsack, power sprayer) for good coverage, especially on leaf undersides and stems.
